1 year tutoring experience, 1 year substitute teaching experience. There is nothing that is too difficult because if one person can achieve it then so can you! All it takes is time, dicipline, and focus- this will lead to understanding/learning! I too have struggled in various subjects and needed the extra time to personally comprehend the material and Ace that class! Yes, it can be done. You can Ace any class, any subject, any standardized exam- just don't quit. I now have several months of teaching experience through K-12 substitute teaching and honestly never thought I'd fall in love with the education industry like I have. Education is power. Believe it or not, all student/children are highly intelligent, but they may not like who is teaching them the material or they learn in a different matter than their peers and once you grasp that angle, they will reach their full potential! I have also done independent private tutoring (math and science) in my undergraduate college years which also serves as years of experience. The key is to explain material that relates to THAT students life so he/she will actually remember it to reverbalize it! I love hearing "wow I've never thought about it that way", yes that's the exact way you should continue to think about it! I have focused my entire academic career around science. It truly is my passion. I have studied psychology in order to learn how the mind works, this will give you the advantage to dicipline your own mind as well as others! I have also studied biology and physiology in hopes to seek a career in the health field, thus the science course requirements were a heavy load. Studying these course as well as general courses has made me very well rounded in all subjects so I understand many students difficulty and frustration in needed extra help in science. I too needed extra focus on that subject. Tutoring doesn't have to be frustrating or awkward in anyway, think of a friend doing some homework with you (sometimes it's actually fun)!
